Plant Scheduling

Features and Functionalities of Interactive Scheduler:

  1. The interactive scheduler comes up with all sales orders on the bottom left.

  2. On click of any sales order, all the work orders that go in fulfilling this sales order are shown in bottom middle. These work orders are at the operation-resource level. In other words, they are work order operation plan.

  3. Select one of the work order operation plans.

  4. Gantt Chart will show the list of resource that can carry out this operation. A list box is also fulfilled in the bottom right displaying the list of schedulable resources. Gantt chart will also show the non-working times and also existing schedules.

  5. Draw the Gantt on the specified date-time on any of the schedulable resource. The extent with which Gantt item is drawn, the quantity scheduled is automatically calculated and will show in bottom right. Gantt item cannot be drawn on non-working times or if the time is already occupied by the existing schedule.

6. If the Gantt item violates upstream or downstream constraints, then a message will be shown.

7. After adding all the Gantt items, click on save. At any time, the changes can be reverted by clicking on cancel.

8.Alternatively, there is a button to switch the view from sales order to resource. On changing the view to resource, all the resource will be displayed. On click of any resource, all the work orders that are planned in this resource are shown in bottom middle. These work orders are at the operation-resource level. In other words, they are work order operation plan.

9. If primary resource is scheduled, then additional resource will be automatically scheduled.

Interactive Scheduling can be done in multiple ways:

  1. Provide work order, resource, planned start time and planned end time and the total quantity scheduled is automatically calculated based on run time. This is done graphically by drawing Gantt item.

  2. Allow the tool to schedule the work order based on the availability constraints.

Features
Planning
Scheduling
Stratergy
Typically works backward based on due date of customer orders. If enough time is not available for material and capacity, then it shifts the customer order till enough time is available to fulfil it.
Can have multiple strategy of forward and backward. It sequences the work orders such that setup time is reduced.
Material
Decides if alternate item can be used if primary item is not available and comes out with net requirement
No material planning happens. Expects this to be done by Planning.
Work Centre
Decides which group work centre to be loaded whether it should load on primary or alternate work centre.
Decides within the group work centre, which sub-resource needs to be loaded
Allocation
Creates the allocation or pegging between supply and demand. This allocation can have many-to-many relationship with multiple procurement orders feeding to multiple work orders.
Allocation created by planning is used in scheduling to come out with upstream and downstream constraints.
Constraints
Takes both material and capacity constraints simultaneously. Generates work orders and purchase orders automatically after netting of the existing inventory and WIP.
Takes only capacity constraints. Expects material to be available. Does not generate any work orders or purchase orders. Expects this to be generated by MRP.
Time Horizon
Long term horizon over 3 to 6 months.
Short term horizon over 15 to 60 days

Planning Vs Scheduling

Ensures similar items are scheduled together with our sequence dependent setup time feature and hence reducing Setup time.

Helps in quickly re scheduling work orders in our powerful Interactive scheduler engine.
